OFF AT 1:15 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. UPALONG, forwardly placed from the start, was taken in hand leaving the upper turn and sent to the extreme outside for the stretch run, responded to strong handling and wore down the leaders during the final furlong. MOUNTAIN HOLLY, in hand to the stretch, closed willingly under urging but was not good enough for the top one. MISS CHEESCAKE, outrun early, gradually worked her way forward after the initial quarter mile and held on determinedly during the drive. BRAVELY WAVING made a bold bid in the early stretch and then weakened. MEDIOCRE began fast, raced with QUEPAGE to the stretch and then gave way. NAPOLI was never dangerous. GOOD BOOK lacked early foot BRIEF REPORT began sluggishly. RELEASED tired. CHAPAQUOIT raced forwardly placed for three-quarters mile and then had nothing left for the drive. QUEPAGE took an early lead, set the pace until well inside the stretch, but suddenly gave way while racing in the deepest going next to the inner rail. KITTY LIGHTNER was through early. CONTY BAY, in hand while racing within striking distance of the pacemaker to the stretch, was taken out for the drive and, responding to brisk handling, disposed of THE COLLIER and held ICARIAN safe. The latter, reserved to the last quarter mile, was sent to the inside .of CONTY BAY for the stretch run and closed determinedly but could not overtake the winner. THE COLLIER went to the front early, drifted out at the final turn but held a clear lead until inside the final furlong, then faltered. GOLDEN ZIPPER lacked early foot but made up. ground during the drive. SWEET WENDY G. was unable to threaten the leaders and had no excuse. VETS BOY, well placed after the start, was taken to the middle of the track for the stretch run and, closing fast under good handling, disposed of TEDS JOY in the last sixteenth. TEDS JOY, away well, set the pace until inside the stretch, bore in badly under punishment during the final furlong and was unable to hold he top one. THE RIVER raced evenly for a half mile and then closed strongly but could not overtake the leaders. PUZZLER gave a good performance and had no excuse. ON FLIGHT tired during the drive. NASRINA, outrun early, moved to the middle of the track for the stretch run and, finishing strongly, was unable to overtake the winner. SCANSION moved up fast after the start, raced with GRECIAN LURE to the final furlong, then faltered. GRECIAN LURE took an early lead, set the pace to the last eighth while engaging SCANSION, then failed to stay. CARELESS MISS had early speed but tired during the drive. BAYOU, in hand under light restraint to the last three-eighths mile, moved up determinedly on the extreme outside approaching the stretch and, after taking command, drew clear while ridden out. TELERAN, outrun early, gradually worked way forward to the stretch closed willingly under brisk urging but was unable to reach BAYOU. HERE AND THERE, far back until nearing the final turn, made a good bid in the early stretch but faltered when nearing the finish. MAGIC FOREST was unable to reach the leaders when set down in the drive. NESHANIC lacked early foot and passed tired horses during the stretch run. JOTA JOTA, on the outside throughout, could not reach serious contention COUSIN CON had early speed but failed to stay.
