LONGACRES 0,000 RACE Mile Contest Scheduled for August 24, Attracting Attention of Owners Throughout Country;: SEATTLE, Wash., May 25. The Long-acres 0,000 Mile Purse, the feature money event of the summer- racing season in the West, is attracting attention of owners throughout the country as first " shipments .of thoroughbreds to the Longacres track Indicate. More than 100 horses are already stabled at Longacres and with the windup of the Tanforan season in California, another 600 will be shipped north for the season, which opens at the beautiful White River Valley track, June 14. . The first string to arrive from the South was the Claus stable, including Canny Scot, as the best known racer. Sea Cliff, pride of the George Gianriini stables, son of Brig o Doon, will be pointed for the 0,000 feature, set for. August 24. The California owner will send a big string of horses north for the Longacres meeting. Shining Jewel and Distribute, stars of the George Marchbank stable, will be rested lifter the Tanforan meeting and then taken up for training again about July 1. If they respond to early workouts, they will be shipped north for the feature race, which will be open to three-year-olds and older. The Longacres track will be the fastest this spring in its three-year history, be- cause of the mild winter. Stables are now ready to take care of 850 horses. j j
