MURPHYS LOSS MOURNED HOMEWOOD, 111., May 25. Washington Park officials, horsemen and regular racegoers expressed themselves as deeply grieved today to learn of the death at Texarkana, Texas, last night of Max Murphy, who has long served as an official at Chicago tracks. Murphy was driving to Washington Park earlier in the week to take up his duties as paddock judge when he became involved in an automobile .accident. He suffered a fractured skull and other injuries and died when pneumonia developed.
