BURY BUSY OMAHA OFFICIAL Secretary Expects All Horses to Be Registered Tuesday. ! AIc-Sar-Ben Meeting of Thirty-One Days Begins Thursday Plenty of Horses and Jockeys Available. - : OMAHA, Neb., May 25. After opening his office Friday and requesting trainers to register their horses, racing secretary Gene Bury was much pleased with the response shown by horsemen in co-operating with him in this work. More than thirty trainers registered their charges with Bury Saturday and by Tuesday morning every horse on the grounds should be registered for the coming meeting beginning Thursday. The badges are due to arrive Monday, and Bury announced that distribution would be made beginning Tuesday morning, at which time all trainers who have not already done so are requested to get their registration lists in, in order to have as little delay as possible in his assistants issuing this courtesy to the horsemen. While Bury is busy making preparations for the issuing of badges, he is also making arrangements to have the Ak-Sar-Ben Inaugural Handicap, opening day feature; one of the most interesting races of the season. All of the best horses quartered here are expected to accept weights for the six furlongs dash, and Bury believes at least ten will go postward for the 00 prize, the Jargest purse offered opening day. Only seven races will be offered daily during the meeting, with a possibility of an eighth race being arranged twice a week for horses foaled in Nebraska. The conditions for these Nebraska-foaled races have not been released as yet, and racing secretary Bury has decided to wait until he can get a better line on the horses stabled here that were foaled in this state. Few horses arrived at Ak-Sar-Ben over the week-end, but two cars are due from California Sunday while five or six cars are coming from Aurora and another, embracing the Three Rs Stable, are expected arrivals over Sunday. Riding talent will not be scarce here during the thirty-one day meeting, as many jockeys are already on the grounds, including Li. Jordan, F. Slamey, D. R. Stuller, J. W. Frye, J. Boucher, C. Hanauer, R. Wimmer, F. Grill, F. Springer, L. Landry, W. Jackson, R. Creese, L. Bazer, W. Bazer, R. West, F. Kurinec and "Lightning" Jones. In addition to the boys on the grounds, many others are expected from Aurora and Kansas City, and Jimmy Glass, who has charge of the jockey quarters, expects at least sixty jockeys to be registered with him opening day.
