KING SAXON JAMAICA LEADER Wins Two Races and Earns 2,120 to Lead Horses. C. V. Whitney Most Fortunate Owner, With Winnings of 5,4l5 Rainey Heads Jockeys With Sixteen Wins. The Metropolitan Jockey Club, operating the Jamaica course in New York, staged one of its most successful meetings in recent years from April 20 to May 14, during which time it distributed 49,625 in prizes for a daily average of ,125. C. V. Whitney reverted to his old habit of leading the money winning owners when his colorbearers scored in six races, one of them the Wood Memorial Stakes, to earn a total of 5,415. C. H. Knebelkamp relied upon one horse, King Saxon, and finished second with winnings of 2,820. The B. B. Stable had its usual success and won ,300. King Saxon, unbeaten in five races this year, scored two of his victories at Jamaica, taking the Paumonok and Excelsior Handicaps for money winnings of 2,120 and top place among the horses. Today, victor in the Wood Memorial, was next with 1,350. White Cockade, brilliant juvenile prospect, won three races, one of them the Youthful Stakes, and earned ,620. C. Rainey, with sixteen winners, had a margin of two on A. Robertson and Silvio Coucci, the latter pair being tied for second honors among the riders with fourteen winners each. Hirsch Jacobs saddled fourteen winners, almost double the number saddled by Willie Brennan, and easily took honors in his division of the sport.
