H0RGAN VISITOR AT SUFFOLK Innovation in Subscriptions for New England Juvenile Handicap Need Not Name Horse, He Says. EAST BOSTON, Mass., June 22. Pat Hor-gan, racing secretary at Narragansett Park, , visited Suffolk Downs yesterday in the interest of the twenty stakes to be run during 1 the Rhode Island summer season, August 15 to September 26. Particular stress was laid 1 upon the New England Juvenile Handicap, i a ,000 added stake for two-year-olds which i are the property of bona fide residents of i New England. It is expected that the vin-1 ner of this race will net more than ,000. An innovation is that subscribers need name no particular horse for the stake, but may merely pay for as many subscriptions as they wish. This will enable them to pick up two-year-olds by sale or via the claiming route until September 16, on Which date they must name the actual starters. Racing enthusiasts of New England are enthusiastic over the stake, and tremendous interest is sure to be aroused throughout this section by the date of the running, September 23. Horgan, it will be remembered, was the first racing secretary in New England to fashion a handicap for older horses owned by residents of this section. It resulted in a thrilling nose finish between Happy Helen and Col. Greene. The most important stake of the summer season is the 5,000 or 0,000 added Narragansett Special, a mile and three-sixteenths event fashioned for the outstanding thoroughbreds of the land. All of the better known racers have been named for the. race. Entries for all twenty stakes close, according to Horgan, on July 15.
