. . j I HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES I $ Following their engagements in the Chicago Derby Saturday Rushaway and Tugboat Frank were shipped to Suffolk Downs. St. Bernard, one of the favorites for the Illinois Owners Handicap, turned in a fine trial under favorable conditions at Arlington Park early Sunday when he ran nine furlongs, the route of that Hawthorne stake, in 1:53. St. Bernard is owned by E. D. Shaffer and trained by A. B. Gordon. Judge Chris J. FitzGerald, steward of the state racing commission, was in Kentucky over the week end. Another to inspect his thoroughbred stock in the Blue Grass state Sunday was Anthony Pelleted. Col. Edward R. Bradley left Sunday for New York. He came here Friday from his Idle Hour Farm where he had been resting for ten days to see the Chicago Derby in which his colors were carried by Bow and Arrow and Baby Talk. Returning from Latonia, where he rode Sweepalot into third place in the Cincinnati Trophy Saturday, H. W. Fisher had the mount oh Woodberry in Mondays opening race. Jockey John Longden, under engagement to the Tarn stable and brought here from Suffolk Downs to ride Rushaway in the Chi-1 cago Derby, returned to Botofi. .
