RIDING HIGH DRIVING WINNER Sir James Filly Keeps Head in Front in Stretch Duel to Score at Agawam Monday. AGAWAM, Mass., June 22. Riding High, brown three-year-old daughter of Sir James, ridden by jockey Stanley Coule and sporting the silks of L. G. Blume, was a driving winner of the Mt. Tom Purse, the days fea--ture, run over the six furlongs distance. A. L. Astes Some Good was second, while Mrs. E. Haughtons Gift of Roses was third, with Mrs. C. Tumins Dark War fourth. Though there was but a small field of six entered, the contest was full of thrills throughout. Starter Gregory sent them away to an even start, Dark War, Gift of Roses and Golden Key racing heads apart all the first furlong. Then Riding High squeezed her way up between the leaders, the four racing as one on the turn from the back stretch. Leaving this point there was a slight jam and Golden Key on the inner rail was forced to take back sharply, dropping out of contention. Entering the home stretch, Coule had Riding High a short margin in front, with Gift of Roses lapped on his saddle girth. Here Some Good, which had also met slight trouble, attempted to force his way between the leading pair but was blocked again. With all three boys riding to the best of their ability, they approached the judges stand, but Coule still had something left, with Riding High managing to keep her head in front. Clear skies greeted the fans who turned out in large numbers to witness the sport, and while the form players suffered reverses, the joy of the long shot players was high as their choices scored frequently during the afternoon. Jockey A. Jolley accounted for his second winning mount of the afternoon when he was astride Grandpas Boy for Mrs. E. Haughton, his contx-act employer, in the sixth, for three-year-olds and upward, which was contested at the mile and one-sixteenth distance. Money Muddle, which finished second, was some two lengths back at the end, with Momentary third.
