j ESCOMUR WINS HIS FIRST RACE Graduates in Initial Race on Riversides Monday Program Big Crowd Watches Sport. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 22. Two-year-, old maidens furnished the contention in the initial race, and Escomur, from the Three Ds Stock Farm Stable, was the one to graduate from the non-winner ranks, when she easily led home the field of ten that went postward. Six lengths back of the. winner came E. Dotys Tip Inn, with L. C. Youngs Eddie H. saving third from G. W. Ellis Iron Sands. The winner began extremely fast and was sent into the lead, with Iron Sands racing close up and Tip Inn, laying third but racing wide. Swing Corners, the favorite, was knocked back" at the start and eliminated. As the field swung into the stretch Escomur had increased her lead to four lengths and Tip Inn had displaced Iron Sands as the runner-up. At this stage Eddie H. moved up gamely on the outside. Escomur proved to be much the best in the final drive and crossed the finish six lengths clear of Tip Inn. The latter was two and one-half lengths clear of Eddie H., which easily caught Iron Sands in the final eighth to earn the minor portion of the purse. Ideal weather prevailed for Mondays racing at Riverside Park and another large crowd was on hand when the horses went postward for the first rate. The temperature took a decided drop overnight and for the first time in two weeks conditions were perfect. An excellent eight-race program was decided and, while the majority of the races .were for the cheaper horses, interesting sport resulted and favorites and well-played horses dominated the card.
