HIGH MABEL, fractious at the post, broke well and moved into contention with a rush, was placed under severe pressure in the final quarter, but tired at the finish. SCHOOLMOM was well up from the start and finished well. GUMPTION began slowly and closed ground steadily at the finish. MASKER was blocked in the early running and could not get clear. BUCK AND WING was under restraint in the early running, moved up with determination under pressure and wore down CLONARD in the final drive. The latter moved into command after the break, showed speed, but was bearing out towards the end under weak handling. LITTLE WOMAN raced on her own courage in the first part when her boy was trving to replace his foot in the stirrup irons and finished gamely at the end. MEREDITH showed a good effort all the way. CROOKED LANE was bothered at the far turn and the final turn. SHASTA NEGRA closed some ground. STINGUM refused to break with his company, but galloped along after his field. PORTDEN, from a slow bginning, improved his position steadily and closed fast on the outside. CHIRAC dropped back after the break, improved his position on the outside and then finished with a rush on the inside. FLYING FALCON came again under pressure in the final sixteenth. CHIEF MOURNER was outrun in the early stages. WATERSET dropped back after the break. SHEKNOWS quit badly in the stretch run. Scratched 278733Single Ragan, 114. Overweight Sheknows, 1 pound. The latter improved his position with a rush on the outside rounding the far turn and was bothered when the winner bore over. CLIENTELLE forced the pace from the start, responded to pressure in the stretch run and came again after being bothered. DISTRACTING was rushed into command after the break, was placed under severe punishment in the stretch after bearing out. carrying CLIENTELLE and ESPINACA with him rounding the turn and then swerved at the .eighth post. LANGUOROUS came through on the inside in the stretch run after being outrun. THUNDERTONE was shuffled back rounding the far turn. FERVID was shuffled back at the far turn. Scratched 27709 Soldiers.
