RIVER DOWNS IS FILLING UP Vans Arriving With Horses From All Points Judge J. A. Murphy Expected Next Week. CINCINNATI, Ohio, April 14. Horses by the truckload are arriving daily at the River Downs race track for the twenty-three day spring meeting which will get under way Wednesday, May 4, and continue to Decoration Day, May 30. The racing strip has dried out nicely since the rain of last week and is again fast. Scores of horses have, been working out over the course since Sunday, but so far no fast time has been recorded. However, with the opening of the meeting only three weeks in the offing, it is believed that horsemen will be putting their charges through more strenuous workouts. Among the well known horses which were seen on the track during the past few days are such capable performers as Professor Paul, Cristate, Old Rosebush, Joji T., winner of several two-year-old stake events during the winter meeting at New Orleans; Elooto, a Kentucky Derby candidate; Unselfish, Lady Flash, Watercure, Strolling Home, Air Line, Naughty, Transfun, Slippery Jim, Candlelight and Sympathizer. Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing, will arrive in Cincinnati next week and will immediately take over the task of looking over the stall reservations and issuing licenses to jockeys who will ride at the Downs track. 1
