BOWIE TURF NOTES $ Francis Dunne, who serves as placing judge on New York tracks, left for Long Island late Thursday. Dunne will be at Jamaica early Friday morning. Jockey George Rose packed his riding tack and departed for Suffolk Downs to await the opening of the New England season. Dr. W. P. St. Charles, owner of the Hastings Stable, one of the most fashionable establishments on the Canadian circuit, was an arrival from Toronto, Canada. He was accompanied by Dr. Snetzer and Frank McLaughlin. For the convenience of the many stables already under shelter at Havre de Grace, racing secretary Charles J. McLennan issued badges to alleviate the late rush. Marshall Cassidy, steward for the New York State Racing Commission, left for his home on Long Island immediately after the last race at Bowie and will be at Jamaica Friday morning to attend preliminary work prior to the opening of the New York racing season. Many of the regulars attending the spring meeting at Bowie, left for New York to be on deck for the opening of the New York racing season to be ushered in Saturday. Several stables without representation on the final program of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association, left for Havre de Grace in the last twenty-four hours. John Turner Jr., George Palmer and James Ross Jr. aided racing secretary Charles J. McLennan of the Harford Agricultural and Breeders Association, in making out badges for the Havre de Grace meeting. Herman Frank reports everything is in. readiness for the operation of the mutuel department at Havre de Grace.
