1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES e s Sherrill Ward was another to leave for Keeneland to where he transferred Russ-mor, Presumption, Percussion and three two-year-olds. Six of the Woolford Farm horses, which raced at Oaklawn Park arrived here by van and one of them, the two-year-old Sherron Ann unloaded in ailing condition. Two others! are to come from the same point. R. Wallace McHvain, after a week-end in Kentucky, left for Chicago, but is returning to his Walmac Farm near Lexington for the Keeneland meeting. His horses, under J. Reed, are at Churchill Downs. Several two-year-olds in the large stable Tom Sanford is training for J. Graham Brown, have schooled well and may be sent to Keeneland to make their bows to racing. Charles F. Price, who has been one of the countrys foremost racing officials for fifty years and is in charge of racing at the tracks of the American Turf Association, is very active here directing operations of that department in preparation for the Churchill Downs opening. H. C. Ashby, turf photographer, was present Monday "shooting" some of the Derby candidates, but has returned to Lexington, for the meeting. Woolford Farms Rifted Clouds, Commentator and Double Dip have been dropped, from training and will be vanned to their owners farm in Missouri. M. F. Mannion advised track superintendent Tom Young that he will ship two horses here from Nashville. A. L. Taylor, Ohio horseman, was expected with three horses owned by Herbert N. Lape, Sr., of Columbus, Ohio. Stalls at Lincoln Fields have been requested by Morris Griner, who will have eight horses for racing at the Crete track. The stable of J. B. Respess, now divided, with divisions at Keeneland and Latonia, has twenty stalls reserved at Churchill Downs. The stable has representatives in several of the nine stakes to be run during the local meet. Tests of the new electrical "tote" board in the Churchill Downs centerfield will be made on Sunday and Monday, according to those in charge of its installation. John Best, who has the horses One Night and Mae Whisk, is expected from his home in Memphis where he stopped off en route from Florida. Frank Ashley who comes to Churchill Downs to man the public address system this spring, arrived here with Mrs. Ashley and their daughter. They came from Hot Springs where Ashley was similarly employed. Owners of a number of the large stables here will be strongly represented in the Lincoln Fields Stakes, according to announced intentions regarding those races for which entry blanks will be distributed in a few days.
