FIRST PORT raced on the outside in the early stages, but closed ground and, corning fast throuch the stretch, met with interference from TEA MERCHANT when the latter bore out, but continued well to win under superior riding. CLIFF PAN was close to the pace from the start and raced well to the finish. TEA MERCHANT was racing well in the stretch when he suddenly attempted to bolt to the outside and interfered with FIRST PORT. DEAR DIARY was in close quarters early and never threatened seriously, but was going nicely at the finish. TORO PLAY was in close quarters in the early running and shut off in the stretch to lose all chance though taken up and, coming to the outside, finished well. BODMIN was forced to take up sharply after leaving the back stretch. CHARING showed cood earlv speed, but tired near the end. Scratched 56316 Gordo Grande, 114. Overweight Shasta Klick, 3 pounds. TONYMAN, close to the pace from the start, raced to the inside nearing the stretch turn to save much ground and, taking a good lead in the final eighth, won handily. AUXILIARY, never far away, was hustled along and raced well to the finish, but was no match for the winner. OPEN DOOR displayed the most early speed, but tired in the stretch. LIMPIO had a rough trip, being in close quarters several times, and was forced to take up on the far turn. STEP BY lacked early speed, but closed somo ground. KUMSIS went to the front at once to show fine early speed and was never headed though being pressed at the finish LISA BELLE was in close quarters after going half the distance, but raced gamely to the finish and showed a good effort. BOSTON BROOK was permitted to drop too far back of the field in the early running and, although closing with a rush, could not get up. ENOCH BORLAND was in close quarters on the inside and showed a creditable effort. MERINA was forced to race wide and was never dangerous. GUARANTY and GALLIENNE tired. Scratched 56317 Will Do, 104. GLITTERING dropped far back in the early running, but made up much ground in the final quarter and was going fastest of all at the end.. GOOD POLITIAN raced evenly.
