McCARTYS JUVENILE RATINGS Saratoga Handicapper Rates Mae-line Best of Crop Appearing So Far This Season. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., April 14. Joe McCarty, the local handicapper whose thoroughbred ratings command wide attention from horsemen and players, considers Maeline, which formerly raced in the name of Hireling, the best of the current crop of two-year-olds that have been to the barrier thus farthis season. He handicaps Maeline, a gelded son of the young sire Higher, from the Campfire mare, Kirk Lady, at 126 pounds. In four starts to date, Maeline was four times victorious. He is owned by Maemere Farm and in his last start won the Hialeah Juvenile Championship. The runner-up to Maeline in McCartys rating is Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts undefeated filly Galley Slave. In addition to scoring in her three starts on the coast, the daughter of Gino, from the Belmont Park and Pimlico Futurity winner, Salleys Alley, established a new worlds record of :32, for three furlongs at Santa Anita. Her last victory was in the Santa Barbara Stakes at that California track. Galley Slave is handicappedf at 121 pounds. FILLIES UNDERRATED. E. Sachsenmaiers Charlotte Girl and the Oddesa Farms Oddesa Beulah, also are undefeated, the former in four races and the latter in three. Charlotte Girl is a two-time stake winner accounting for the Nursery Stakes No. 2 at Hialeah Park and the Bowie Kindergarten Stakes. They are in the 118 pound group.
