MERE BLAZE, hustled into a good early lead, was steadied along for a half mile, responded well when shaken up and although holding TARPON safe, had little left. The latter, under strong handline from the start, faltered after caining on the winner in the final eighth. SWALE failed to menace the leader* but was best of the others. HIGH FIRE, well ridden and a strong factor from the start, drove to the front on the inside in the stretch, responded to strong urging during the final eighth and outfinished GAY BILL. The latter, hustled along from the start, took command approaching the final quarter, swung wide at the turn, came fast when straight, but hung in the last stride. OBSTINATE BOY, slow to begin, improved his position rapidly after a quarter, was steered to the inside for the drive, was in close quarters nearing the final eighth, came again when clear and finished strongly. DON PANCHO, in close quarters for a half mile, raced on the outside in the drive. GALLEY SWEEP had early speed. MERE FROLIC was outrun. STALL MAN appeared not to favor the track. SYMPATHIZER improved his position rapidly after five sixteenths, then saved ground thereafter and finished strongly. SWEEPING VINE, outrun for a half mile, closed fast when steered to the inside for the drive. SPREAD, weakly handled and under strong restraint for threo-ei"hths was steered wide nearing the stretch and finished under her own courage. STEP ROSEY had no mishaps JEFFERSONTOWN was outrun. The latter sprinted into a long lead during the opening quarter, increased her advantage under steadying restraint, bore out at the end, but came fast on the extreme oit ide and was gaining on the winner at the end. DONNIE W. improved his position rapidly after beeinning from outside of the stalls and finished strongly. MASTER FRANK, hustled along from the start, tired after a mile.
