SWEET PATRICE REPEATS Adds Bouquet Claiming Stakes to Her List of Triumphs. Juvenile Filly and Sandy Bill Complete Double for Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Establishment. NEW YORK. N. Y., May 19.— Sweet Patrice, steady going daughter of Halcyon and My Tide, which races under the banner of Mrs. Ethel Jacobs, accounted for her second stake of the Belmont Park meeting when she drove to victory in the four and half furlongs Bouquet Stakes, the claiming event which was the principal number on todays program. This was a high priced affair, with the winner being entered for ,500. At the end Wayne Wright had the brown filly a length and a half in advance of Prospectus, with that colt saving the place from Jack Horner by a similar margin. The fillys recent success in the Fashion Stakes caused her to be held in high esteem and she went to the post at 6 to 5 after opening at 7 to 5. It was the seventh victory in fifteen chances for this consistent youngster, adding ,750 to earlier earnings. She covered the distance in exactly the same time as the Fashion when she raced down the straightaway in :53 seconds. The score gave her owner a double, as Sandy Bill had flaunted these silks to triumph in the opening race. NAMED AFTER MRS.RUNYON. Wright had Sweet Patrice, which was named for Mrs. Damon Runyon, on the head end directly after the start, and she never was headed thereafter. The Halcyon miss carried Modest Queen into defeat in the first three furlongs and then drew away slightly under a steady drive. Considering the fact that she was packing top weight of 119 pounds and making concessions to all rivals, it was an excellent effort. Prospectus, moving into better company than he opposed in two previous local starts, turned in a good race. The High Strung colt was outpaced for about three-eighths of a mile, being driven into second place thereafter by Stout. He held the others safe for the balance of the trip, though failing to threaten the winner. Selby Burch sent out a smart and fit maiden in the fourth when he saddled Briar-let for the Christiana Stables. This was a four and a half furlongs dash for juveniles and the son of Sun Briar and Superlette stepped it in :52, just a full second faster j than the time hung up by Sweet Patrice in | the Bouquet. It was the first start for the Sun Briar colt. He scored by four lengths I over Steam Roller from the Falaise Stable and the favorite of the big field. Third place went to Sky Flier. ANOTHER FOR SANDY BILL. Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs Sandy Bill, brought back to the races this year after an absence of two seasons, won his fifth race when he scored in the opening six furlongs dash. All of this means that he remains unbeaten since his return to competition and each race appears a bit better than the one before. He crossed the line two lengths before T. D. Grimes Billie Bane, and W. V. Hopkins That One took third easily enough from Quasimodo, the only other starter was Toby Tyler. Mrs. Arthur Whites Spinach lost a steeplechase through no fault of his own when he finished third to Miss Katherine Christies Redshank and Apple Fool by reason of the interference he suffered from a loose horse. Four fences from the finish Flying Feathers made a bad landing and unseated Sessa. Then Spinach went into an easy lead, but Flying Feathers, riderless, went after him and repeatedly bumping and crossing him brought about the defeat. North Riding, heavily supported in the six furlongs Port Washington Handicap, carried her speed to a successful conclusion when she drove past the judges a length in advance of the gamely closing Clean Out, with Exhibit a steady going third, two lengths farther away. • .
