I AURORA TURF NOTES | $» ...... » P. J. Van, trainer and part owner of the Snowflake Stable, announced the purchase of the contract on apprentice Herb Litzen-berger from J. M. Hazza. The terms of the transaction were private. J. H. Dunn acquired Lifelike, winner of the seventh race Wednesday, via the claiming route for ,000. One other claim was registered for the racer and a draw was necessary. The stable of A. R. Born, Chicago department store operator, is scheduled to be transferred to Lincoln Fields by trainer A. A. Swenke. The following horses are in the consignment: Silver Sarah, an Illinois Derby candidate, Rolls Wind, Peter F., Florence B. F, Glad Wings, Carbon Copy, The Tribesman, Redress and Wee Santa. Eric Blind and Jim Thompson, who have been serving as part of the ground crew of Johnny Morrissey at Aurora, will depart Friday to act in a similar capacity for Roy Dickerson at Wheeling Downs. Harold Nellor has decided to ship his stable of racers, which includes Heidi, Skippy McGee, The Millay, Chicken Lady, Linler, Just Marie and Wild Love to Fairmount Park in time for the opening of the Collins-ville track. Norman "Butsey" Hernandez reported the purchase of the two-year-old Laurels Ruby from William Day for a private consideration, and Dan Hardy acquired Good Dame from Mrs. A. M. Creech under the same terms. Amos Wallin plans to go to Lexington, Ky., within the next few days for the purpose of negotiating with W. C. Goodloe, breeder, for the purchase of several horses. Although he has only six horses at present, A. J. Schuetze, Houstonian, has decided to split his stable into two divisions, sending two to Lincoln Fields and four to Fairmount Park. Frank Seremba reported that he has taken first call on the services of jockey T. P. Martin for the remainder of the Fox Valley meeting and also for the duration of the Lincoln Fields meeting. Martin will have the , mount on Fairflax in the Illinois Derby. Morning Mail, which has been turned out | for more than a year at John Oros farm near Aurora, has been taken up and will be ; placed back in training for racing at Lincoln Fields. Wise Fox, winner of the Louisiana Derby and eligible for the Illinois Derby, was on the track Thursday morning for a gallop of a mile and a half under direction of owner- | trainer A. G. Tarn. Wise Fox has been on | the track very little since his return from ! Churchill Downs where he was a contestant i in the Derby Trial race. Glen Gorbet, trainer of the horses owned I by Gorbet and Irvin, will ship the following thoroughbreds to Omaha for the opening of the season at the Ak-Sar-Ben course: Leana G., Vishnu, Gale Way, Johnnie Dear and Bahadur. In the same shipment the racers of Mrs. Sam Gorbet will be included. The latter outfit consists of Splurge, Dixie Dora, Royal Leon, Big Sam, Reciprocal, Hell Diver and Grandmas Boy. V. E. Berry, San Antonio, Texas, sportsman, whose horses were resting up at Hot Springs and are now at Lincoln Fields, was a visitor Thursday afternoon at the Fox Valley track. Jockey Joe Mattioli made his departure Thursday morning for Detroit, Mich., by motor where he will report to Harold Sherman for whom he will ride throughout the meeting in the motor city. M. Covault and Stanley Schneider, co-owners of Corvus and Mayor Holcombe, turned the two horses over to Joe Neel to train in the future. Covault will leave for Kentucky to take over a stable of horses to train, he reported. Jockey Johnny Hernandez, who figured in a fall on opening day when three horses fell near the finish of the race, had his first mount Wednesday afternoon since the accident. The pretentious stables of C. E. Davison and Mrs. A. M. Creech are destined for racing at Lincoln Fields following the Fox Valley meeting. Jockey Jack Richard and the good apprentice Bobby Conley will accompany Mrs. Creechs outfit. -
