EXPERIENCED AND COMPETENT Lincoln Fields Stewards Comprise Veteran Officials Beginning With Judge Charles F. Price. CRETE, 111., May 19.— It was announced today that judge Charles F. Price, steward in charge of racing at all tracks operated by the American Turf Association and long recognized as one of the foremost racing authorities in the country, will be at his post in the stewards stand when the curtain rises on the Lincoln Fields session. Judge Price comes from Louisville, where he presided over the racing at Churchill Downs. His direct connection with racing goes back fifty-two years and besides some of the modern Chicago tracks, he served here years ago at several of the courses which passed out of existence with the abolition of race track betting. Christopher J. Fitzgerald, representing the State Racing Commission, and C. Bruce Head, will serve with judge Price here. These men also are thoroughly acquainted with racing in all its phases. Judge Fitzgeralds affiliation with the sport also going back beyond the turn of the century, while judge Head, who also acts as general manager of the track, has been an official for many years after having bred and raced thoroughbreds for some time. As head of the original Fairmount Jockey Club he took part in the pioneering of the return of racing in this state some thirteen years ago. »
