Lehr, president and general manager of the Detroit Racing Association, was in Cincinnati today for a conference with judge Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing. President Lehr is very optimistic regarding the Detroit spring season, which commences Saturday, May 28. — He stated there are more than 200 horses now quartered at the Fair Grounds track and that by the end of the week this number would be doubled. "Not only will we have plenty of horses," said Lehr, "but I believe they will be of better caliber than we have had for a couple of seasons. Already we have received many nominations for the ten stakes to be offered during the thirty-seven days of racing." Mr. Lehr continued on to Detroit, he having been at Churchill Downs for a couple of days of racing.
