DUSKY MAID, racing in good form and much the best, was rated close to the pace under steady restraint responded well when called upon to take command quickly, and easily retained her advantage the final eighth. ACCORDION, outrun for a half mile, came to the outside in the stretch an 1 clos:i » fast overtook ANN STAR m the last few strides. The latter showed speed from the start, was under li»ht pressure after three eighths and held on in creditable fashion. RED CHIEF lost much ground and clos"ed well in a good effort WOODSIA showed the most speed under energetic riding and began to tire after a half mile. CLASHMAN showed little. The latter, on the inside early and taken under restraint when unable to outrun the early leaders, came wide into the stretch and closed resolutely under strong handling. ODDESA GIRL had speed from the start, was under pressure after three eighths and gave way slowly in the late stages. SORTIES SON lost ground. THE SHINGLER was outrun. BRAMBLE SORTIE was taken back repeatedly while making the early pace, drew out into a decisive lead when ready and won easily. THE QUEEN began to move up when racing wide on the final turn, then MM on well through the stretch, but did not menace the winner. MISS SAXON saved much ground, dropped back slightly on the turn, but closed evenly under slight urging. MAPLE RICCA tired. CHANCE . ii*Wa *lo"ly and taken to lhe in?ide on the first turn, was blocked soon after reaching the stretch and, allowed to drop far out of it under timid handling, did not threaten while racing wide in tho final five sixteenths. EPITOME, quick to take command, was well rated while making the pace, drew out entering the stretch when roused and, taken in hand again in the final eighth, just lasted. BRILLIANT ROSE, badly outrun for five-eighths, improved her position fast thereafter while racing wide and, finishing stoutly, was getting to the winner. MOTTLED, well up and in hand for three quarters, saved ground wherever possible, moved up well approaching the last eighth and held on fairly well. CROSS RUFF forced the pace under steadying restraint, was placed to pressure on the second turn and tired in the drive. MATURE tired after five-eighths. DIXIE BOOT pulled up lame.
