MANHUNT, well handled and kept close to the pace, responded readilv when called on. disposed of LA MONTE 111 the final eighth and held HIGH JOSIE safe to the end. The latter lacked early speed was taken to the outside in the stretch and finished with a rush. FLORENCE B. F. made up ground steadily and finished strongly. LA MONTE broke rapidly, set a good pace to the final eighth where she gave way rapidly. MEMORY CHAIR worked his v.av up to a contending position in the stretch, but swerved in the late stages. VEEKS, close up from the start and strongly handled, assumed the lead when CHATUGA ran out at the stretch turn, quickly assumed a commanding lead and was never threatened. PLENTY CHARM, never far out of it, and saving ground throughout, showed a pood effort. MARGARET NADI broke swiftly, set the pace for a quarter, but could not keep up. CHATUGA, rushed into the lead around the far turn, ran out to the outside rail entenng the stretch, and t".r"d in the last stages. HORNET improved his position gradually. IDLE WORKER, fractious at the gate, broke with the leaders, was taken in hand while GETABOUT moved into a commanding lead, responded readily when called on and. disposing of GETABOUT in the last sixteenth, drew out to win with left. something GETABOUT was rushed hard while setting the pace and tired badly when reaching the last eighth. CRABTREE worked his way up on the outsideand showed a good effort. ROYAL LEON, in close quarters in the early stages, improved his position steadilv when clear and closed well. BOMBASTIC, slow to begin and far back for three-eighths, improved her position rapidly thereafter, came through on the inside and wore down YENRAC in the final sixteenth, but was extended to the limit. YENRAC. hustled into the lead, after a quarter opened up a big gap but began tiring after three quarters. JOLLY FAYE was prominent all of the way and held on with good courage. HERMONE displayed speed for three quarters, then gave way when placed to pressure. FREE ADVICE could not keep up. CROMARTY w,as eased up in the stretch when hopelesslv out of it. GOLD MESH, never far out of it, was taken to the inside in the last three sixteenths and closed gamely under urging. SWIFT LAD passed tiring horses in the stretch. LITTLE DRIFT was much used in the first half mile and tired rapidly in the last sixteenth. THE MILLAY closed well. SIR GAWAINE had speed to the final eiehth. then quit. PEDANT trailed throughout. JOHN TIO, lractious at the gate, got away well and was taken under light restraint during the early stages, came around to the outside when working his way up and, overtaking MARTIN BARTON, continued gamely to outlast ALMAC. The latter, on the inside, dropped back after a half mile, then gained steadily in the last quarter and finished gamely. MARTIN BARTON, away fast and well up throughout, came through a large opening on the stretch turn to gain a slight advantage, but was not good enough. GUMPTION tired in the final three-sixteenths. KAIRACK, away fast and forcing the pace for five-eighths, drew into the lead and had to be hard urged to the end in order to outlast MARIO. The latter worked her way up gradually between horses, was taken to the outside in the stretch, and, closing with a rush, just missed getting up. ROYAL TUSCAN, never far out of it, held on gamely to outstay WISE EDDIE. The latter set the pace under pressure, but tired when challenged. WESTERN RUN closed a good gap and finished strongly.
