ELIGIBLES FOR ILLINOIS DERBY Frank Seremba Names Fairflax, Pin Money and My Feng for Race. Jockey T. P. Martin Engaged to Ride Fair-flax in Aurora Feature — Gov. Chandler to Arrive Monday or -Tuesday. AURORA, 111., May 19.— The total number of nominations for the 2,000 added Illinois Derby, major stakes offering of the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs 1938 jmeeting, was boosted by three today when Frank Seremba named three of his charges for the mile and a furlong test. The trio that are eligible to represent the former jockey in the closing day fixture are Fairflax, Pin Money and My Feng. The first named is regarded as the chief reliance and is considered somewhat of a "dark horse" despite the fact that he has been under colors only once during his three-year-old career. Fairflax was purchased from W. C. Satter-thwait during the winter by Seremba for a reported price of 0,000 for the express purpose of starting in the Louisiana Derby, but there was not sufficient time to prepare the chestnut son of Sweep All— Sunshine for the New Orleans event. GOOD JUVENILE RECORD. During his two-year-old campaign Fairflax chalked up a total of six victories, one of which was the Queen City Handicap at River Downs, in which he defeated such rivals as Gov. Chandler. Decourcy, Janice, Kings Heir, My Lawyer, Upset Macaw. Busy Morn and Cautivo. Trainer W. R. Sallee, developer of the dual worlds record holder Clang and astute trainer, is well satisfied with the manner in which Fairflax has been developing and suggested the entry of the Sweep All gelding for the mile and a furlong race, which will bring together some of the crack three-year-olds in this section and possibly Iawrin, winner of the sixty-fourth running of the Kentucky Derby. In his only start as a three-year-old Fair-flax, although defeated by a decisive margin, displayed an inclination to "go on." The Seremba colorbearer bowed to Prince Argo and Pelter, both Illinois Derby hopefuls, and Pegging Away, stable companion, and landed fourth money. The track was sloppy on this occasion. Owner Seremba announced that he has engaged jockey T. P. Martin to handle his chief dependant in the seventh running of the Illinois Derby. It is quite probable that Pin Money, which was acquired from the Southland Stable, will be the running companion of Fairflax in the Derby. BUNNY BABYS ENTRY. Another nomination received this afternoon at the offices of the Fox Valley Jockey Club was that of E. K. Brysons Bunny Baby, the filly which finished second to Wise Fox in the Louisiana Derby and which many considered the best horse in the race. The mishap of a slipping saddle during the stretch run reduced the fillys chances of bringing a victory to the Maryland owner. Word was received by racing secretary R. A. Leigh, Sr., to the effect that Gov. Chandler, recently purchased by Howard Hawks, Hollywood movie director, will arrive at the Fox Valley track either Monday or Tuesday to have the final touches put to I his prep for the Derby. Following Gov. Chandlers performance in the Illinois Derby he will be shipped to California to join the main division of the Hawks stable in the Golden Gate State. . A
