HERONDAS was not hurried during the early part of the trip, began to improve his speed in the last five-sixteenths, swung to the outside when reaching the stretch and, closing stoutly, was along inside the last twenty ards to wear down BRAIN TRUST. The latter had speed from the start, went to the front when CROP began to tire and held on willingly to the close. CURRANTS, a forward factor all the way, made a determined effort to get to the front approaching the eighth post, moved up only to tire slightly during the last seventy yards. SCOTCH GOLD was unable to close any ground under pressure. JOY FLAG saved ground at the stretch turn, moved up briefly then dropped back. CROP tired badly in the last quarter mile. SCIVA tired. QUESTIONABLE took command in the opening strides, drew away into a good lead, but began tiring in the last sixteenth and barely lasted long enough to hold safe the fast closing LADY HAV. The latter, well piaced from the start, finished wearing down the winner rapidly. SUNABELL worked his way up steadily and held on well through the stretch. REGAL LINK, away slowly and suffering interference in the opening ciahth, closed an immense gap and was traveling fastest of all at the close. MAELONG, well placed early, was unable to keep up. CHARMING was outrun throughout. MY COMPLIMENTS, hard ridden to gain a forward position, faltered from her early efforts through the closing three-sixteenths. CARNIVAL TIME was almost knocked down in the crowding that occurred in the first eighth. Overweight — Miss Engadine, 2 pounds. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. STAR FLOWER, favored with improved handling, worked her way up steadily after leaving the back Stretch, and, closing with keen spe d through the stretch, wore down JACQUELINE M. for command, and was going away at the end. FEEDMAN, restrained early, came with good energy in the last five-sixteenths, getting up in the concluding stride to take the place. JACQUELINE M. had good speed in chasing the pace, took command when the early pacemaker bore out at the stretch turn, but was unable to maintain her advantage under pressure. HISTRIONIC moved up threateningly in the drive. SPRING MELODY, taken extremely wide at the turn from the back stretch, drove throueh on the inside at the stretch turn and closed an immense gap. EFFUSIVE tired under urging. DEVILS MATE displayed good speed for the first half mile, bearing out badly at the stretch turn. Overweight— Histrionic, 1£ pounds; Effusive, 3. HIGH VOLTAGE, slow to be»in and outpaced early, came throueh on the inside at the stretch turn and closed willingly. PORCELLUS irround the stretch. UPSTREAM moved up fast on the outside down the back stretch, came through on the inside rounding the far turn, was forced to take up and come to the outside when DOROTHY ROCK came over, and, although closing willingly, was held safe. WISE COUNSEL closed gamely, although unable to reach the first two. ALTER EGO was unable to keep up. ONE CHANCE, far back for the first three-quarters, lost considerable ground when improving its position, came with a rush out beyond the middle of the track through the stretch. JOHN WERRING displayed speed in pacemaking, went wide at the stretch turn and tired under pressure. IDOLATRY, in closest pursuit of the earlv pace, quit after three-quarters. SPEEDY SKIPPY, under slight restraint while racing along in close attendance of the pace established by BUGLE CALL, wore down the latter when called upon and, kept under pressure, held sway to the close. BUGLE CALL displayed good speed from the start and held on gamely to the close. ROSS moved up on the outside through the back stretch, then loomed up menacingly when straightening out in the stretch and, despite closing willingly, was unable to reach the first two. BLUE KING, outpaced early, closed an immense gap in the last five-sixteenths. HAPPY FLAG was farther back than usual during the early stages and made up some ground through the late stages. BALLYSTRATFORD had speed from the start, was taken in hand and steadied along when GRACE GRIER raced to the front, moved up on the inside, took command after the turn and surrendered the lead to INSCRIPTION, but, closing willingly, was along in the closing strides. INSCRIPTION, prominent all the way, went wide entering the stretch and, despite holding on willingly, just failed to last. GRACE GRIER was prominent all the way and, given a breathing spell nearing the stretch, closed stoutly between the leaders. PARALDA closed some ground, but was unable to menace the leaders. VITAMIN B., far back early, closed some ground on the inside through the stretch. BERRY PATCH was unable to improve her position under urging. SUNCIRCLE BLAZE was unable to close any ground when called upon. Overweight — Berry Patch, 2 pounds. NINTH RACE 3-1 MILE Out of Chute.
