During the spring meeting of nineteen days at the Metropolitan Jockey Club, a total of 81,425 was distributed among the horsemen, for a daily average of ,548.68. William Woodwards Belair Stud was leading owner with 0,925. The chief contribution to this sum was garnered by Fighting Fox in his easy victory in the Wood Memorial Stakes. The son of Sir Gallahad III. won both of his races at the Jamaica course, earning 8,150, to be money-leading horse at the meeting. The Wheatley Stable finished second on the owner list with 7,450 won, and the stable of Mrs. E. D. Jacobs was third. Hirsch Jacobs saddled the most winners at the meeting. This astute conditioner sent eighteen winners to the post to finish three in front of James Fitzsimmons. Wayne Wright rode twenty winning races to lead the jockeys, but the honor was in doubt until the last race of the meeting was run, for Wright had to ride three winners on closing day to finish one winner in front of Johnny Longden.
