L. moved up steadily on the inside nearing the far turn, raced into an easy lead and won as ifputclassing her opposition. MATTAPONY, prominent all the way, was under slight reserve early, came wide into the stretch and finished with good energy. LINAS SON, slow to begin and outpaced early, moved up steadily in the last three-eighths and came in determined fashion through the last three-sixteenths. OCLEARY, far back for the first half mile, passed tiring horses through the stretch run. GOLDEN • SILENCE had good early speed, faltering in the last live-sixteenths. STORY TIME, prominent from the outset, was much used in racing with GOLDEN SILENCE and tired after going a half mile. Scratched— 73224 Scotch Thistle, 103; 73073 Joaney B., 108. IDOLATRY was not hurried during the early running, began working his way to the leaders after leaving the back stretch, came to the outside for the closing test and, gaining a slight lead in the final eighth, outlasted METAURUS at the end. The latter raced to the leaders during the first quarter mile, was under slight reserve while within striking distance of LIGHT CRUISER, disposed of the latter for the command, but was unable to maintain his advantage under hard urging. LIGHT CRUISER displayed good early speed, opened up a clear lead, but was no match for the first two in the closing test. COUNT RAE, hard ridden to hold a forward position early, was unable to make up any ground. PATCHPOCKET was unable to keep up. GALLANT GAY raced evenly. HOLTON, permitted to settle into best stride, moved forwardly gradually, came to the outside when reaching the stretch and, responding gamely, was along in the last ten yards to wear down MISS WHIM. The latter had speed from the start, opened up a good lead and, despite being placed to a hard drive, was unable to stave off the challenge of the winner. BIG BULLY came through on the inside entering the stretch and closed with good courage. FRIENDLY PAUL, on the outside all the way, was unable to reach the leaders. STABLE was never a factor. PROSPECTUS raced well for the first half mile, tiring thereafter and probably was in need of the race. BAIZE, well placed, was pinched back when on the inside rounding the far turn and dropped back gradually. HAPPY PICNIC raced in dull fashion. Overweight — Baize, 4 pounds; Happy Picnic, 3. Miller; bred by Mr. M. Madden.- WENT TO POST— 3:50. AT POST— 3 minutes. Start good and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. PHARABOY raced to the top at once, met determined early opposition from GRISETTE, drew clear after the first three-eighths and increased his lead gradually through the stretch run. GRISETTE, in closest chase of the winner throughout, held on well to the end. CYRUS P. moved up on the outside when placed under pressure and was going willingly at the end. FLOAT AWAY, outpaced in the run through the back stretch, made his effort nearing the stretch, moved up briefly, but was unable to keep the pace during the last sixteenth. MODERN YOUTH was unable to enter into serious contention. OUR LADDIE was going willingly at the end after being far back early. He was driven out an extra eighth. FERDINAND was racing well placed when caught in a jam and knocked back. He had scant chance thereafter. Scratched— 73170 Branch Water, 101. Overweight — Our Laddie, 3 pounds. DOROTHY ROCK, slow to settle into her best stride and a trailer for the first three-eighths, was brought to the outside when reaching the stretch and, closing with a rush, won going away. RHODIUM, hard ridden to hold to a forward position, began giving improved speed when reaching the stretch and finished with good courage, getting up in the concluding stride to wear down UNASSISTED. The latter had speed from the start, was taken back and given a breather when HARP WEAVER took command, readily assumed the lead in the stretch, only to tire in the last twenty yards. BLIND PIG went to his knees at the start, moved to his field gradually when back in stride, continued to save ground, only to tire under punishment in the last three-sixteenths. PAY RACK, well placed all the way, continued with good energy to the close. GALA STAR, slightly reserved while •within striking distance of the pace early, was unable to close any ground on the leaders in the closing drive. CRIMEA was unable to engage the leaders. COUNT MAURICE, well handled, was taken back after being supplanted from the lead straightening out on the back stretch, the rider bided his time and, moving up on the inside of the leaders straightening out in the stretch, responded gamely and outlasted PANORASCOPE at the end. The latter raced into the lead after straightening out on the back stretch, drew clear while racing slightly restrained, lost ground coming into the stretch and, although holding on stubbornly, was not quite good enough. DARK BEAU, taken back of the pace, was placed under urging during the last five-sixteenths, moved up stoutly on. the outside, but was unable to close any ground during the last eighth. UPSTREAM, a trailer until the last three-sixteenths, came stoutly through the closing stages after saving all possible ground. HUNTING HOME tired steadily in the last quarter mile. MOBCAP dropped back in the run through the back stretch, was taken to the outside, began working her way forwardly, responded gamely to punishment through the stretch and was up in the closing strides to wear down INACTIVE. The latter, unruly at the post, was started outside the stalls, moved up fast on the outside in the first quarter mile, disposed of VIAJERO for the lead when called upon and, despite holding on eamely, was unable to withstand the winner. VIAJERO outran his field to the first turn, opened up a good early lead and continued gamely after being overtaken. BLACKMAIL moved up gradually approaching the far turn, was under punishment and tired during the stretch run. TRANSIT LADY was unable to keep up.
