STEPINFRED had good speed to gain the lead soon after the start, was handled strongly while setting a steady pace and continued gamely to withstand PASS OUT. The latter was close up from the start, challenged strongly when reaching the stretch, but could not gam in the final stages. THIRD COVEY was pinched off rounding the turn by SNOBBISH LADY, recovered and finished willingly. TOWN PRINCE lost ground to work his way forward on the outside. SNOBBISH LADY was close up early, .crowded over on THIRD COVEY on the turn and tired in the stretch run. HUGOOD saved ground but could not threaten. PETER PORTER could not reach contention. CANT TELL broke very slowly. MISS KSAR was outrun. DIN was forced very wide on the turn. ROYAL WANTON was never a threat. NANSEMOND, steadied back of the leaders until settled in full stride, gained stoutly when shaken up, came through on the inside of Dinamita when reaching the stretch, assumed command inside the final eighth and drew out swiftly. DINAMITA sprinted into a clear lead rounding the turn, but failed to stay with the winner when challenged. BALCONY finished gamely, but could not get to the first two. * TULEYRIES LIN, beginning slowly, circled her field and closed a good gap. SPRINGS HERE was unable to reach the leaders and lost ground. ROYAL GREY was not dangerous after the first half mile. GEODESIAN was outrun. FYAN quit. HALO raced well for the first five-eighths. SAPELO displaced PERFECT LIAR after clearing the fourth fence, was .steadied in front, met a bold challenge from BAFFLER at the twelfth jump, drew clear after the fourteenth fence and had speed in reserve at the end. BAFFLER was sent up into a contending position with a rush, engaged the winner at the twelfth fence, then tired under severe pressure. PRATTLER was placed forwardly from the start, fenced well and continued gamely to the end. LITTLE DAN. steadied off the early pace, finished with good speed when shaken up. PROMOTER could not menace. DUN LUCKY raced on his own courage all the way. PERFECT LIAR was not persevered with. WAR CAPTIVE showed speed to the first mile "and tired. WELLSTEPPED lost his rider at the thirteenth jump. LATEPASS was a strong factor from the start and held on gamely to the end. OCTOBER ALE, breaking tardily, closed full of run from a slow beginning. KEY MAN was ridden hard to enter the first flight and held on gamely to the end. ROLLSBUZZY I lost ground all the way. PUZZLE DANCE could not keep up while saving ground. ROMAN LADY broke tardily, was rushed up fast, but tired after going three-quarters. HEELFLY, slow as usual in the early stages, was waited with until settled into full stride, gradually entered closer contention on the back stretch, circled the leaders, on the final turn, drew clear easily and had much to spare at the end. AETHELWOLD had good early speed to set the pace, disposed of OCEAN ROLL on the far turn, gave way to the winner, but continued gamely when headed. KENTY lacked speed to race with the early pace but finished stoutly. ISOLATER dropped back after flashing early speed and passed tired horses. POMPOON, away well, could not keep up while having no excuse. OCEAN ROLL tired from his early efforts.
