1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES | s e David Strauss, widely known Cincinnati business man who has several horses Jiere in charge of Howard Wells, arrived from the Queen City. Polk Laffoon, member of the Kentucky Racing Commission; E. Marvin May, former owner, and Benny Castleman, composed a party that came from Cincinnati for Wednesdays sport. Edward J. Hughes, Illinois secretary of state, and Mrs. Hughes and Judge Norman L. Jones, who is vacationing at French Lick Springs, motored from that resort Wednesday and expect to be daily visitors until after Der,by Day. Mrs. D. M. Lightum, sister of Herbert M. Woolf, and Miss Gertrude Lightum and Barney L. Allis, arrived from Kansas City, and Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Shamberg came from Miami. With Joseph M. Schenck, president of the Twentieth Century-Fox Motion Picture Company, who will arrive from Los Angeles Friday, they will view the Derby running from the Woolf box.
