WINDSHIELD, well ridden and in. hand for five-eighths, moved into command when ready, rapidly established a good lead and won with somethine to spare. RUSSIA, far back early, improved his position on the outside, was forced wide entering the stretch and closed resolutely. MARFEU, a factor from the start, was put to strong urging ncaring the final quarter and tired in the drive. MAYRO worked her way forward after five-eighths and held on well. KING CARL had no mishaps. SCOTCH HIGH tired after being rushed into contention. SWEEPING DAME, hustled to the front, gave way approaching the final three-eighths and tired rapidly after reaching the stretch. Won driving; second and third the same. _ COPPER ROD, under a snug hold for five-eighths, began to improve his position thereafter under light urging, was put to increased pressure in the final quarter and was up in the last sixteenth. SERENATA MAID, well up and in hand for three-quarters, responded to pressure thereafter and held on well, but could not stall off the winner. EMPORIUM, slow to begin, began to improve his position steadily after three-eighths, took command on the second turn and drew out approaching the last eighth, but then faltered. , DETAINED, in hand to the second turn, failed to rally when called upon thereafter. BLANCO SWEEP passed tiring horses in the last quarter. BIENCHANCE lacked speed and failed to threaten. QUICK QUICK gave way badly after showing speed for three-quarters. Scratched— 73182Fay D., 103.
