FOUR CARLOADS REACH OMAHA Horse Colony at Ak-Sar-Ben Greatly Increased by Arrivals. Twenty-Two Head in Earl Beezleys Shipment From Bay Meadows — Over Four Hundred on Grounds. OMAHA, Neb., May 20. — The horse colony at Ak-Sar-Ben took a big increase yesterday as four cars of thoroughbreds arrived from California to rest up for the opening a week away. From San -Ysidro came a car of gallopers which included J. F. Millers horse Blindfold, a seven-time winner this season at Agua Caliente. Miller also brought Sunny Princess. In the same car were Harry Fields with Rondelier, Blind Blarney and Play-more; Frank Attebery with Chica and Floss-moor; J Bertozzi with San Ardo and Beaches; and E. Pullman with Make and Break, Coole, Oakham and Liverpool. From San Diego came a car containing C. J. Gambles two handicap performers, Ezechias and Glen Brush, the two-year-olds My Universe and Esrevinu, and Oolibama and Genitum. E. H. Hegge had four in the same car, namely, Roger Witch, Roxanna S., 1. Crossbeck and Arisan. A Philpot brought in Balkan Land, four-time winner last year, to join the stable of his brother from Gandy, Neb. Twenty-two head constituted the shipment of Earl Beezley, which arrived last night in two cars from Bay Meadows. They included Pompous Genie, Anopheles, Do It, Byrdford, Hookey, Down Hill, Sobriety, Distribute, Davidor, Merina, In the Shade, Crafty Fox, Ebony Egelett, Hideaway, Mekong, Booter Mc, Kent, Son o Day, Tall Oak, Ribald, Sassafras r.nd Kiloise. There are now more than 400 head of horses on the grounds, and when the stables now racing at Beulah Park and Fairmount, which have stall approvals, arrive in the next few days, it is expected that the enrollment will set an all-time high for Ak-Sar-Ben. Racing secretary Ben Holmes and his assistant, A. J. Heffernan, who have been at St. Louis for several days, returned to Omaha this morning. L. M. Walger, Jr., manager of the mutuel department, was an arrival Friday and immediately started checking preparations for May 27.
