; • TO RACE AT WHEELING DOWNS Horses of Hopeful Farms and I. K. Mourar to Be Seen in Action at West Virginia Track. WHEELING, W. Va., May 20.— Among the largest stables to campaign during the sixteen-day meeting at Wheeling Downs will be those of the Hopeful Farms of I. K. Mourar, racing secretary William Shew-bridge revealed today. The Hopeful Farms will have eight horses under silks during the spring meeting which opens May 27. Mourar is shipping to the Wheeling oval from Oriental Park, Cuba, where he had a successful winter. It is expected that his string will number at least seven. Applications for stall space are expected to more than tax the capacity of the island course where three extra barns, each to house twelve horses, have been erected. Many owneis who participated in the successful session last fall have notified secretary Shewbridge they will return. Fay Headlee, whose quartet of x-acers were shipped to Wheeling from Waynesburg over the week-end, declared the racing strip and the entire plant look better than ever and predicted greater interest in the Wheeling track. Headlee has Miss Genuine, a two-year old, and Princess Girl, which will run in his own silks and Mr. Genuine and Vinnie H., owned by E. B. Ewart. J. R. Cale of Jewett, Ohio, vanned in from his farm with four fresh campaigners including Jumelus, Shady Chance, Betnabar and the good mare, Mahi, winner of two races last fall. Cale purchased Mahi here last September. With morning activity around the stables increasing daily and many runners working out, there is a steady gain in the railbird j brigade.
