NANAHCUB, well handled and steadied along early, improved her position rapidly after reaching the stretch and got up in the final stride. HY SONNY sprinted into a commanding lead during the opening quarter, widened on his field after leaving the back stretch, but after enjoying a big margin to the final eighth tired rapidly and was unable to withstand the winner. HENRIETTA C. worked her way forward steadilv and closed with a rush. POKEAWAY, used up in the pace, quit under pressure. OPENING NIGHT made "up ground. SURE CLOUD was unable to. keep up. GAY BUBBLE had early speed. CAPTAIN HENRY was done after a half mile. COURTNEYS PET began slowly and refused to extend himself under good urging. Scratched— 73900Honcy Chile, 119. BILLMAR, away fast and taken in hand when outrun, moved forward after five-sixteenths, responded to strong urging after being sent to the outside of the leaders in the drive and got up in the final stride. GUNWALE, well up from the start, was lucky to find room in the final stages and just failed to get up. KNOWING sprinted into a good lead early, increased his advantage after a quarter and, holding a commanding advantage to well inside the final eighth, tired near the end. COMBATANT came from well back. TAKUS tired. FLY ME showed an even effort. CANIA tired. Scratched— 71951 Henry M., 114. Overweight — Billmar, 1 pound. FRIVOLOUS SAL, rushed to the front, was urfable to draw clear, gave way to MUGGINS after rounding the far turn, came again when straightened away in the stretch and won easily. MISS BALKO, slow to begin and in close quarters early, improved her position when clear, moved up between the leaders and finished strongly. MUGGINS, -hustled along from the start, was unable to draw clear after reaching the lead and tired under pressure. RED HAY came from well back. LEGION was taken back when in close quarters at the turn and showed little thereafter. PROSY tired. BELLE ELAN made up ground. DEDICATION raced wide. STRAIGHT THRU came over sharply when entering the back stretch, drew clear after disposing of GOLDEN ERA and was unable to withstand the winner, but held on gamely. DETROIT BULL, shuffled back when STRAIGHT THRU came over, improved his position after three-quarters, but failed to menace the leaders. GOLDEN ERA tired. COULEE-DAM showed a dull effort.
