STJENSUND, eased back when racing on the inside early, began to move up slowly after going to the outside on the turn, responded to light punishment after reaching the stretch and, wearing down TEDDY BOY, drew clear in the closing strides. SEVEN STAR raced wide throughout, did not respond to light urging soon after entering the stretch, but rallied to stronger pressure in the final eighth and finished strongest. TEDDY BOY took command quickly, saved ground throughout, but began to falter before reaching the last eighth. PAUL T. had speed from the start, but failed to stay in the drive. The others had no mishaps. Overweight — Seven Star, 5 pounds; Paul T., 4; Sis Blaze, 9; Be Shy, 8. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Lady Madcap, May 24, 1922—1:44—4—113. NEMONT, much the best and away fast, took command under stout restraint, easily drew out after reaching the last five-sixteenths and was cased in the last sixteenth, winning with much in reserve. DOUBLE R. moved up steadily while saving ground the first three-quarters, raced gamely under strong urging thereafter and disposed of SUN MICA gradually in the last three-sixteenths. The latter, taken in hand when unable to outrun NEMONT and saving much ground, was under strong pressure the last three-eighths and held on with good courage to the last sixteenth. KING CARL raced wide throughout and tired in the stretch. CROUT AU POT was outrun. KIEVS PENNANT showed poor form. Corrected weight — Nemont, 119; Crout au Pot, 114. NINTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. I CHASE forced the early pace under restraint, took command when called upon, came again after losing the lead and finished in a dead heat with TEXAS ROSE as rider interfered with the latter, but was disqualified for the foul. TEXAS ROSE, reserved off the pace, slowly worked her way to the front under ■mild pressure, suffered sharp fouling after swerving over in the last eighth and was lucky to finish on even terms with I CHASE, yet appeared best. BEL ESPOIR, away slowly, saved ground while outrun, raced wide on the stretch turn, went to the inside in the last quarter, had to be eased as "the leaders swerved to the inside entering the last eighth, but tired in the final sixteenth. GAY WATER had no mishaps. WEST SEA saved much ground, but was never a serious factor. LENA J. was always far back. LIFE GUARD quit after showing speed for five-eighths.
