ESPOSA RETIRED TO STUD NEW YORK, N. Y., May 20.— Esposa, brilliant seven-year-old daughter of Espino— Quick Batter, has been mated with W. S. Kilmers grey stallion Gino and shipped to the farm in Virginia. The swift Ziegler mare has been a shining light in racing for five years, winning 31,255 and numbering Seabiscuit among her beaten rivals. She defeated the Howard star in the 1937 Bowie Handicap. In addition, she is the 1938 winner of the Hawthorne Gold Cup. Zieglers decision to retire the swift mare was made after she failed to recover from a shoulder injury sustained at Santa Anita last winter, according to trainer Matt Brady.
