PROMISING APPRENTICE Willie Cassity Astride Winners* of First and Second Races. Phalamo Accounts for Third Race With a Front -Running Effort — "Daily Double" Pays 7.40. COLLINSVILLE, 111., May 23— Willie Cassity, one of the younger apprentices performing at Fairmount Park, scored a double in as many races when he brought Inscolt back a winner in the running of the second race this afternoon. Cassity was astride Hidden Haste, winner of the first race, for his initial victorious mount of the afternoon. In a blanket finish which brought five horses to the finish line closely aligned, Inscolt emerged the winner by the small margin of a nose. He Devil finished second, a half length in front of Beau Thor. Monks Time was fourth in the field of eleven which sprinted six furlongs. The winner, which races for H. Thater and B. Harrison, was accounting for his first victory of the year and was lightly regarded in the mutuel wagering, paying 1.40 for ticket. A good-sized week day crowd was on hand to witness the matinee which was conducted under auspicious conditions, the weather being summer-like and the races were run over a lightning fast track. HIDDEN HASTE GRADUATES. Hidden Haste, sporting the silks of R. E. Plemmons, graduated from the maiden ranks when she was an easy and a surprise winner of the opening event. She had the services of apprentice Willie Cassity and held at odds of 30 to 1. She reached the finish of the five and a half furlongs dash one and a half lengths in advance of DOrla, which easily saved the minor award by two lengths from Grecian Time. Apprentice Otto Grohs continued to add to his already large list of winning mounts when he brought Phalamo across the finish victor of the third race by some two and one-half lengths. Eddies Brother came from far back to weave through the..field in the closing stages and had to be content with second place, a neck before Whisk K. The winner, the first favorite of the afternoon to score, paid .80 for . ANOTHER FAVORITE WINS. Another favorite scored for the form players when Nogalo led Atholton by a half length at the end of the fourth race. Miney finished third, a head farther back. The winner, with apprentice Raymond Jones in the saddle, was held in second place, while Dolly E. showed the way for the first half mile of the event. At that stage Jones hustled his mount forward like a veteran to bring Nogalo alongside Dolly E. and after continuing together for a short distance the J. A. Kinard, Jr., campaigner pulled away to be the winner. Jones was astride his first winner of the meeting when he brought Nogalo back ahead of the field.
