CLEVELAND RUSH ON Construction Work Speeded Up With Arrival of Horses. Big Shipments Get In From Churchill Downs and Latonia — Meeting Begins on Saturday. CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 23— Five carloads of thoroughbreds — four from Churchill Downs and one from Latonia — constituted the most important arrivals at North Randall today, as the inauguration of the Cleveland Jockey Clubs thirty-three-day meeting is approached. Among the arrivals from the Blue Grass State are some of the foremost stables that will be represented during the coming session at the historic old harness course, which makes its advent into the running race field on Saturday afternoon. Those received from Churchill Downs included S. G. Baker, Sr., L. V. Bellew, Le Mar Stock Farm, E. B. McAtee, Keene Dainger-field, Jr., aggregating a total of more than sixty horses and the largest single consignment to reach here in advance of the meeting. Of the above mentioned establishments the largest is that of the young turfman, Keene Daingerfield, Jr., who has a total of twenty-three racers under his supervision for campaigning , at the local course. The Daingerfield , outfit is expected to prove one of the most successful here and is made up of racers of a varied quality. ADVANCE SHIPMENTS. In addition to the foregoing stables, the ; final consignment of Mrs. A. M. Creechs stable, a portion having been transferred . arrived in charge! ; j to North Randall earlier, ; of trainer Bennett Creech. Another Kentucky outfit to check in was that which George I ■ I Gould is conditioning for J. R". Neville and E. A. Bischoff, these also coming from Louisville. Although the influx today virtually taxed the capacity of the stabling accommodations, , workmen proceeded, in spite of continued . inclement weather, with the construction of the barns that will afford facilities for the ; ; housing of 300 more horses. Completion of these buildings is expected to be reached by ; the end of the week. Meanwhile a number of horsemen have k consented to stabling their charges at Ascot Park and Cranwood, until such time as the ; | • work is finished. Training was somewhat interrupted Monday I because of the incessant rains of Sunday night and a heavy fog that enveloped the course during the early hours Monday morning. ;
