SCULPTRESS was steadied along back of the pace, raced into an easy lead when KANTAKA bore out badly at the stretch turn, drawing out steadily through the last three-sixteenths. HIGH ARCH, slow to settle into her best stride, came stoutly in the stretch run. KANTAKA had speed from the start, bore out badly at the stretch turn and, straightening out, finished along the outside rail. DANS FOLLY closed ground during the last eighth. CLOSE QUARTERS closed willingly on her own courage through the stretch. SUN KIT began swerving after reaching the stretch and may not have fancied the going. POLINA ircd. WAKITA, taken to the outside when reaching the back stretch, moved up steadily, disposed of PROUD KING for the lead after going three-quarters, drawing out steadily thereafter. POST OFFICE, slow to begin and outpaced early, moved up gamely in the last half mile and closed with good courage through the stretch run. PROUD KING took command soon after straightening out on the back stretch and, rated along under slight reserve, was unable to keep pace when challenged by the first two. TRANSFINN was unable to reach the leaders. BIG BULLY, well placed early, dropped back in the last half mile. CHARMING was . unable to keep up. SCORIA was far back throughout. TOBACCO raced to the front in the first few strides, opened up a long lead and was never threatened, winning as her rider pleased. COUNTRY LASS trailed her field into the back stretch, moved up steadily in the last three-eighths and closed with good energy in the stretch run under energetic handling. HALLIES PLAY, well placed all the way, held on willingly to the close. SUMMER HAIL was unable to reach the leaders. MOBCAP, in closest chase of the winner for the first eighth, tired badly during the last quarter mile. BRIGHT GEM dropped back badly after reaching the back stretch. GLENBROOM, hard hustled in an effort to keep up early, began giving improved speed in the last live-sixteenths, moved up on the inside and, catching CRIMEA tiring, was along in the concluding strides. CRIMEA raced to the front at once, drew clear during the opening quarter mile, increased his advantage steadily, but began tiring during the last sixteenth and just failed to last. GOSTER, under slight reserve while following in pursuit of the pacemaker, was unable to reach the leaders, although closing in determined fashion. MAEBEAU, on the outside all the way, moved up rounding from the back stretch, but was unable to make up any ground thereafter. JELLY ROLL, far back for the first half mile, was going willingly during the late stages. CURRANTS was down in the deeper going on the inside down the back stretch and tired after the opening three-eighths. CARDELL was under steadying restraint while in pursuit of the pace early, responded gamely when called upon, came through on the inside of the early leaders when reaching the stretch and, wearing down EXARCH, drew out steadily through the last sixteenth. EXARCH raced to the front at Once, disposed of BRIGHT VIEW, opened up a good lead, but began tiring in the last eighth and barely lasted to hold BRIGHT VIEW safe. The latter, well placed early, moved up determinedly in the stretch and would probably have been second in another stride. MALAYAN, hard ridden early, was unable to keep the pace. SALLY PASS BY was cased back in the first eighth, was taken to the outside and was unable to enter into serious contention. Corrected weight — Exarch, 119. SIXTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. NABOB went to the front at once, withstood determined opposition from ALARMING for the first three-quarters, drew clear and, kept under punishment in the stretch, was never seriously threatened. ALARMING fought it out stubbornly for the lead in the opening three-quarters and, yielding ground slowly thereafter, barely lasted long enough to stave off the bid of GREAT BLAZE. The latter, under slight reserve while racing well placed, finished with good energy in the stretch and would probably have been second in a few more strides. PICK OUT raced evenly. HIGH TENSION trailed his field into the back stretch and was never a serious threat at any stage of the journey. POWERS GOURAUD was unable to enter serious contention. Scratched— 73940Skipped, 109. LADY ROMA was not hurried during the early stages, moved up nearing the far turn, went through on the inside of WULFSTAN to take the lead and increased her lead steadily in the stretch. DAYTONIAN worked his way forward during the last half mile and finished with good energy. OZARK, a trailer until the last three-eighths, closed a good gap the remainder of the way. WULFSTAN had speed from the start, then disposed of SAVING GRACE for the lead, only to tire under pressure during the last quarter mile. SAVING GRACE tired after the first five-eighths. GOODNIGHT was closing ground slowly during the final sixteenth, although unable to endanger the first two. CELESTINO trailed for most of the way. LEGERDEMAIN was unable to seriously threaten.
