I ; SECOND HELPING VICTORIOUS Graduates From Maiden Ranks in Capturing Grosvenor Plate. Small Crowd Witnesses Third Program of Woodbine Park Meeting — Track in Sloppy Condition. TORONTO, Ont., May 23. — Juveniles contesting the Grosvenor Plate furnished the best offering today at Woodbine Park, as no | outstanding attraction was carded. Second, Helping, brown daughter of Swift and Sure, racing for the local hockey magnate, C. Smythe, was returned winner. Under the able handling of C. McTague, she drove through on the inside in the stretch and was along to defeat C. S. Madisons Bisonette by a neck marginf Third honors went to H. R. Bains Cobike, which was four lengths off the first two. Marlboro Maid was fourth, a half length back. A small crowd witnessed the third program of the Ontario Jockey Club. Heavy mist hung over the course for the morning hours, but the sun broke through before the start of the first event. The track was in a sloppy condition from the early morning rain. There was a slight delay at the start of the juvenile dash, when Second Helping was unruly. The field was away in good order and Bisonette, breaking from the inside, was first .to show in the lead, but she was quickly joined by Cobike. As they swung around the turn Bisonette raced a head before Cobike, while McTague had Second Helping in third place two and one-half lengths back. Coming to the stretch Pas-cuma elected to go out and Second Helping saved ground on the inside. Entering the last furlong Bisonette held a head advantage over Second Helping which had moved up on the inside. Cobike dropped back to third place. In the run to the wire the pair battled gamely with Second Helping slowly Increasing her lead to have a neck advantage. Yammer, racing for T. T. Mott, was returned winner of the Thick Thorn Hurdle when he raced into the lead and held a length and one-quarter advantage before W. T. Northgraves Careless Knight at the end of the about one mile and five furlongs. Mrs. W. Duncans Winon, which was making his first start through the field, was in third place five lengths back and four in advance of the Lowfields Bobsworth.
