SNOW FLOWER IN ROMP Daughter of Zacaweista Is Decisive Winner at Motor City. Ladies Day Crowd Second Only in Size to That of Opening Day Baltee Victorious. DETROIT, Mich., May 23.— Snow Flower, consistent daughter of Zacaweista, scored a decisive victory in the fourth race, one of ; the best offered at Detroit this afternoon. Neglected in the wagering in spite of two victories this year, the R. E. Mclntire color-bearer made every post a winning one to reach the end of six furlongs six lengths before Oak Park, with third honors going to Uphold. Molly Fly was installed an 11 to 10 choice, but she showed nothing to justify it. w With ladies the guests of the management, the crowd was second only to that of opening day, and ideal weather, after the first race, prevailed for the sport. The track was at its best. Jack Chestnut handled the Mclntire color-bearer, and he permitted her to establish a big lead during the first quarter and, steadily gaining on her opponents, the winner came to the end with much to spare. Uphold chased the winner to the last stages, where Oak Park came on to take second honors. There was some excuse for Susiebell, for after a tardy beginning she was used up in reaching contention and tired after reaching the final furlong. SrARKLING EFFORT. Displaying a sparkling and game effort, Carrying Time, a Dixiana castoff, garnered major honors in the fifth race. Idle Elf was second, a neck back and a nose before Take On, which tired after offering the winner a hard battle during the greater part of the six furlongs. French Bread had the early speed, but the winner, capably ridden by Willie Prehm, had him in front on the far turn and although Take On offered a determined, challenge from there until the last strides, Carrying Time proved the gamer and had enough left to withstand Idle Elfs belated rush. Low Cuts opened the program with a surprise win when he led Sympathizer, Strolling High and nine others to the end of six furlongs. Ridden by Arnold Sorsen, the A. R. Mann colorbearer worked his way forward to wear down Strolling High, when inside the final furlong, and had enough left to lead the fast-finishing Sympathizer by a length. The latter also came from well back to take second place. Strolling High, which raced Sequoia and Wild Call into submission during the opening three-eighths, quit badly after relinquishing the leadership. BY NARROW MARGIN". Keene, his owner and breeder, and he was in the thick of the fight from the start. Siva, always a factor, garnered third honors. Baltee, a son of Balko and Tee Totum, registered two in a row for the choices, when he made every post a winning one, to chalk up his initial score in the third event, fashioned for plater juveniles. Little Davey. chased the winner from the start, with third honors going to Speedy Squaw. Baltee, furnished by C. L. Templeton and ridden by Karl Horvath, was in motion when the start came and, rapidly establishing a good lead, came to the stretch with two lengths to spare. After being roused, the Templeton youngster increased his margin -to four lengths, but he weakened rapidly in the final stages and Horvath had him under good pressure at the end. There was little chance for Speedy Squaw, for the start found her unprepared, and Michillinda, the second choice, was rushed forward after a tardy beginning only to tire near the end.
