Carpenter to ride Candescent in the Cadillac Handicap, featured number on the program next Saturday. H. E. Smith has taken over the seven-year-old mare Cherokee Red to train for Harry Cherrington. Norman J. LeBlanc returned from his home in Maringouin, La., and stopped off at Lexington, Ky., en route here. LeBlanc pur- chased the three-year-old Frown from C. W. Moore, which was turned out at Lexington. The horse will be picked up this week and placed in training here. According to LeBlanc he gave the brood mare Dark Mist and cash for the son of Jock — Comforting. Dark Mist is turned out in Kentucky and is in foal to Silverdale. Jockey J. Littrell plans returning to the saddle Thursday. A broken finger has kept Littrell inactive for about two Weeks. Tommy Aimers came down from Dufferin Park to accept mounts on the card Tuesday. Ellen Baker and Miss B. B. were sent to Latonia by T. Jolley. According to Maderis Dupuy, who holds the contract on apprentice Hayden Dupuy, leading rider here, he has turned down many offers for the papers on the clever reinsman. The latest offer for the rider came from the owner of a large stable now racing in the Chicago area.
