Abmeres Rider Claims Foul, but Stewards Fail to Agree — Track Remains in Muddy Condition. . I STANTON, Del., June 20.— Unheralded, t six-year-old chestnut son of Canter, racing | J the blue and gold racing silks of B. Frank I J Christmas, in a game finish was winner of ■ the Five Points Purse, mile and seventy r j yards claiming event that featured the pro- . I gram of the Delaware Steeplechase and Race ; « Association at the diamond state track to day. His score, marking the second this I 1 year, came in one of the best finishes of the • z day when he survived a long drive for over f a z half mile to land honors by the narrowest t * a margins as he took the measure of the » i younger Abmeres, from the Tall Tree Sta-d ble, after they battled on even terms from i i the turn out of the back stretch. 1 Beaten five lengths as the two principals l c waged their stirring argument, Yellow Tulip 1 was third for the Bomar Stable and Trina, ,, 1 from the D. J. Sullivan barn, was fourth beta fore the three other starters. The Queen, , 1 -Light Chatter and Night Tide, which finished 1 1 that order. To make doubly certain of victory when a l i photo-finish occurred, jockey P. Mills made I claim of foul against the Tall Tree Stable i starter. It was given consideration by the » stewards but the placing was not disturbed. BRIEF SHOWER. ! With the sun obscured in the afternoon J after the first three races were decided i ] under sunny skies a rather good-sized crowd ; was driven to cover by a light shower when i I the fifth race was run, but, fortunately, it I was only of brief duration, The racing strip remained in muddy con-t. - dition and once again outsiders captured i their shares of purses. In the leading event, listed sixth, the seven n starters left in good order, with Abmeres s particularly alert under jockey J. Borup to o be first from the stalls and leading the oth-le i- ers to the first turn. Unheralded was not t away as well as the Tall Trees Stable three-e. !- year-old but soon found his racing legs and i was lapped on the pacemaker as Night Tide e held to third place and Yellow Tulip was s fourth. This order was maintained down the e far side of the track and there was little to o choose between the fighting leaders as they y reached the final turn well in advance of if the others. In a long, hard battle to the e end, Unheralded did not permit Abmeres to o get more than a head in front and closed d courageously in the last eighth to drop his s nose down on the line.
