SCULLERY MAID, hustled into a contending position early, responded strongly when shaken up, Wore ELTONHEAD down inside the final eighth, then came away under stout urging. BILBOQUET, sluggish in the early rating while forced to race on the inside, bettered his position on the outside in the last five sixteenths and flushed stoutly. ROMAUNT raced well placed, but failed to menace when placed to punishment. ELTONHEAD opened up a long lead, saved ground, but tired badly. SPANISH BEAUTY broke verv slowlv, then was taken wide. BONVIANT, going close to the leaders and eased back when kept on the rail early, rallied strongly when steered to the outside, overhauled POMPE GRANDE inside the final eighth and was hustled to the finish. rOMPE GRANDE assumed a short lead, shook off FLYING ALONE, saved ground, sulked under punishment midway of the stretch, then came again nearing the close. SHENUIT worked her way up gradually and finished with a rush. HAZEL W. came gamely in the late stages. MINY MO saved ground but was not good enough. J. EDGAR H. had no speed. FLYING ALONE tired. II.. nicely handled, was sent to the front at the first fence, jumriedwell at all of his fences, bumped SAPELO slightly at the last jump, then withstood a vigorous drive to barely last long enough. SAPELO, prominent all the way, made a bad landing at the twelfth fence, recovered handily, came to the outside when approaching the winner at the final jump, was slightly bumped and fought it out stubbornly. RIDEAWAY, steadied for a mile, improved his position gradually and closed gamely. SEA TED dropped back after moving up stoutly at the eighth fence, then failed to threaten. THE DOOK II. raced on his own courage most of the trip and went wide. PROMOTER could not enter contention. SNOBBY SCAMP lost his rider at the fourteenth jump. DISRAELI, having good speed in the footing, followed close to- the leaders when on the outside, moved to the front midway of the stretch, then was kept under pressure to the end. SPOUT RUN brok very slowly, saved ground to reach his field, then swung to the outside in the final drive to close gamely. ON STAGE was used up racing with KANALBRET and tired under punishment in the final issue. KANALBRET could not get clear alter getting to the front and tired when kept close to the rail. The latter, outrun for the first half mile, circled his field and finished full of run. GRAEME CRACKER forced a steady pace, saved ground, but tired when kept in the deeper footing. ROYAL CROSS was prominent for five eighths .then tired. TURKEY-RUN could not enter contention. WAY OUT was done after three eighths. FLYING CLOWN could not un-track himself. UNHERALDED was sent up swiftly going to the first turn to enter a forward position, moved up on the inside of ABMERES midway of the back stretch, responded strongly in the final stages while continuing on the inside and was up in the concluding strides. ABMERES. racing greatly improved under alert handling, assumed command early, was steadied nicely and fought it out with excellent courage. YELLOW TULIP, sluggisii at the break, saved ground after getting into a forward position, but failed to reach the leaders when placed to a drive. TRINA was permitted to settle in stride, but could not threaten. THE QUEEN was outrun. LIGHT CHATTER was never a factor. NIGHT TIDE tired after three-quarters. LADY JAQUELINE, listlessly ridden, was permitted to drop far out of contention, trailed badly to the final turn, then rallied with a tremendous rush when shaken up in the last quarter mile. NOGALO was sent through on the inside to displace LADY DEMOCRAT at the final turn, but had nothing left when the re.il test came. LADY DEMOCRAT was rated in front, but failed to rally when -aught. MORE POISE was prominent and had no excuses. CHAUVIN was allowed to drop far back going to the iirst turn and was taken verv wide in the late stages. SICKLE LASS could not untrack herself.
