I"1" mended plan of their engineers for a forty-T. one mile highway system, including four j" superhighways for Chicago. The estimated ted cost is 5,000,000. The proposed west side :je superhighway would follow the Northwest-L. st eras right-of-way or Congress Street and md save seventeen minutes from the Loop to to the city limits. On the southwest side it it would follow the bed of the old Illinois-H. ns- Michigan canal and save twenty minutes S travel. The southeast side by way of Jackson . , Park and Stoney Island Avenue would U " save fifteen minutes, while the northwest J? side, via Avondale Avenue would, save four-fil- teen minutes. =
