C, June 20.— State department officials today confirmed Tokyo dispatches that Eugene Dooman, the Amer-ee ican charge daffaires in Japan, had called upon the Japanese foreign minister to dis-ell cuss certain aspects of the situation at Amoy. This referred to Kulanghu, the in-ras ternational settlement at Amoy. Beyond dis-ier closure of this information, the department would not discuss this countrys role in the diplomatic maneuvers in connection with the latest Japanese incidents in China, which have been directed particularly at Great Bri--ry tain. Although denying any formal written protest to Japan, the state department ad-on mitted that Dooman has full authority to act at his own discretion in the protection of United States interests. ■
