BRIERTON gained the lead in the opening strides, drew clear in the first three sixteenths increased his advantage leaving the back stretch and, roused several times in the stretch, was never seriously threatened MASKED GAL moved up gradually on the outside in the run throueh the back stretch moved up gamely in the stretch, but was no match for the winner in the closing drive. LITTLE MIKE had speed from the outset, dropped back after rounding the turn, saved ground into the stretch and held on gamely to the close. MARt.ABALA. slow to begin, closed eround in the last three eighths MATTAPONY taken wide leaving the back stretch, was never a factor. HASTINOLA, well placed from the start, disposed of MERRY CAROLINE for the command nearinc the tar turn, opened up a good lead and was never seriously threatened, althoueh doing her utmost at the close. QUATERNARY worked his way up Gradually during the last three eichthsf came wide into the stretch and finished with good courage. SEMAPHORE dropped back after leaving the bark stretch swung to the outside for the closing test and finished with a belated rush. MERRY CAROLINE had good carta speed made a bold bid along with the leader when challenged, was not cood enough and tired in the last three-sixteenths. SPANDAU was unable to reach the leaders. PEACEFUL was outrun. MIX WELL, prominent throughout, gained a slieht lead before reaching the stretch and while holdine on wilhngly, was unable to cope with the challenge of the winner. FORDINA. in close pursuit of the pice dropped back ne.inng the far turn, was placed under punishment, moved up briefly, althoueh unable to dose any ground m the stretch drive. BALL-0 FIRE, well placed early and on the outside, was unable to reach the leaders LADY BEWITHUS had speed for the first three eighths. POLINA, hustled to the front, "drew clear in the first eighth, was rated along under slight restraint, made a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged, hut was not good enough. A claim of foul lodged against the winner was not allowed. TRUE KNTGHTF.SS moved around on the outside leaving the back stretch, but was unable to close any ground on the leading pair when placed under pressure. SEALOCH was unable to enter into serious contention. MINORCA, away fast, dropped back and was unable to engage the leaders. BETROTHED was outrun. FLIT CALL, awav slowly, trailed far back throughout. DAN I PID moved up fast through the early running, drew clear in the first quarter mile, increased his advantaze rounding from the back stretch, came wide entering the stretch and was never threatened. COUNT COTTON, well placed all the way, held on willingly to the close. WAXWING, messed about the entire trip, was taken back all through the back stretch, then raced very wide rounding the turn and finished on his own courage through the stretch. WOOF moved up willingly on the inside entering the stretch, then faltered in the last eighth. REMARKABLE was well placed early, then faltered after a half mile. MINIMUM was outrun. The latter, avoiding the earlv pace, saved many lengths at the stretch turn, moved up and held on with good energy to the close. BURGOO MISS, on the outside while in near pursuit of the leaders, was under intermittent punishment in the run through the back stretch, was unable to better hor position and faltered through the stretch run. CUPIDS ARROW, a trailer early, worked way up steadily in the last three-eighths and finished going gamely. SPANISH MAMMON, well placed from the start, was unable to close any ground when placed under pressure. SCORIA was unable to enter into contention. ROCKY MARGOT was restraint until the last half mile, moved up steadily on the outside when bettering her position, closed stoutly through the stretch while on the extreme outside and was wearing down WHIPPER CRACKER in the last thirty yards. The latter, slow to begin as usual, saved much ground on the inside entering the stretch, raced to the front and, drawing clear, held on willingly, but was unable to withstand the bid of the winner. EL PUMA, outpaced early, worked way up gradually in the last three-eighths and closed with good energy. ERNIE MANZER, well placed, was unable to better his position under pressure. PETER PUMPKIN displayed good speed in disputing the pace, then faltered in the last five-sixteenths. PYTCHLEY tired badly.
