PAPALINDA saved eround in the early stages, went wide turninc into the .stretch and, continuing strongly while drifting out. moved into command approaching the final eiehth, then drew clear in the final seventy yards. SPRINGMEYER, never a great distance back and strongly urged in the stretch, finished gamely, but could not menace the winner. CHESTNUT BUR. outrun in the early stages, closed gamely and outsramed JAY HEART in the final stride. The latter set the pace under strong restraint, was roused turning into the stretch and, racine wide apptoachine the final eighth, was steered to the inside for the closing strides. MALINDA B. could not keep up KIEV GAFFNEY was racing gamely when forced wide and was unable to reach the leaders when straightened out. OH FUDGE had early speed. JOCKAWAY was outrun. BLUE TRACE, under occasional urging to keep within striking distance of BLUE STAR in the early stages, slipped through on thc inside turning into the stretch and, energetically handled in the final eighth, drew clear easily. BLUE STAR had good speed from the start but drifted out slightly turning into the stretch and, though strongly urged when challenged, was no match for the winner. The latter, unable to move past TRYEM on the inside, was eased back slightly and, taken to the outside of the latter turning into the stretch, was unable to gain on the winner in the final strides.
