DETROITS LADIES DAY Fair Sex Guests of Management for Fridays Good Program. Brilliant Nell Defeats Ten Other Maiden Platers in Second — i Silent Shot Wins. DETROIT, Mich., June 23.— A cool breeze sweeping from Lake St. Clair provided ideal weather conditions for the attractive program offered a big Ladies Day crowd at Detroit this afternoon. Two- and three-year-olds held the feature spots, juveniles meeting at four and one-half furlongs for the third race and three-year-olds ran one mile and seventy yards in the Wyandotte Purse and sixth race. The Wyandotte afforded Milky Way Farms Banner Man an opportunity of chalking up his second victory of the meeting. He had the services of Hayden Dupuy and the Louisiana boy had six other mounts. Lucky to find room while improving his position on the inside Silent Shot, a 9 to 10 choice, was a driving winner of the first race, at one and one-sixteenth miles. Second went to Scudder, a half length back and the same distance before Grand Jester, which did the pacemaking for five-eighths. SLIGHT INTERFERENCE. There was slight interference at the upper turn and Lirma and Turf Sting were the chief sufferers. While Lirma came on to garner fourth laurels, Turf Sting failed to recover and was the trailer at the end. The scarlet and black silks of Clarence and Frazer Lebus were carried to their second victory of the meeting when Brilliant Nell defeated eleven other maiden plater three-year-olds in the three-quarters second race. My Ace carried off second honors and third went to Tuo. In close quarters and well back, while Black Bass and My Ace dominated the pace for a half-mile, the winner, a daughter of Brilliant and Procne, drove through on the inside to reach the lead shortly after entering the stretch. Rapidly establishing a good lead. Brilliant Nell came to the finish with three lengths to spare. Black Bass, the early pacemaker, bore out badly when tiring and carried My Ace with him, but the latter recovered quickly and held on well.
