CHALLEDON TOPS KENT Sun Lover Regarded as Brann Stars 5 Most Formidable Rival. Nine Named for Delaware Parks 5 0,000 3-Year-Old Special — Off Track Certain. STANTON, Del., June 23.— The Kent Handicap, . 0,000 added feature exclusively for three-year-olds, holds the center of interest I at Delaware Park tomorrow. The test is at t one mile and one-sixteenth and nine good ones of that age have been entered. These e include two entries, those of Thellusson and £ Gilded Knight, which will represent the Be-lair ,_ Stud and Wheatley Stable, respectively, r and the Greentree Stable pair of Hash and I Third" Degree. Belair Studs Johnstown was s nominated but not entered, but his absence e proved no surprise. Win. L. Branns Challedon will carry top p weight of the band under 126 pounds. The e gallant son of Challenger II. and Laura Gal, I is noted mostly for his mud running ability, particularly as displayed in his performance ■ In winning the Preakness. In addition to 0 that success, Challedon this year was third d in the Chesapeake Stakes, second in the e Derby and third in the Dwyer. ADVANTAGE FOR CHOICE. James P. Ross, track superintendent at t Delaware Park today designated the condition :- of the strip as sloppy" and only herculean ;. efforts on the part of his efficient crew v would have it at tops tomorrow. Chief pre-race interest in the special lies between the favorite and Millsdale Stables Sun Lover. A smashing second to Johnstown in the Dwyer and finishing in front of Challedon in the same event, the son of Sun Beau and Dark Love surprised by that per-IQ formance. He has been close up in all his races this season and there is always the possibility that he may be better than previously regarded. His weight is 117 pounds. George D. Widener will be represented by Eight Thirty. This fellow has shown a dis-lav tinct fondness for the local footing having been a frequent winner during this meeting. He is asked to carry 120 pounds. Wheatley Stables Gilded Knight is closest to Challe- don in the matter of weights under 121 pounds. The winner of the Chesapeake turned in a disappointing performance when installed favorite in the Shevlin, but the possibility of an off track enhances his chance. Belair Studs Thellusson which will race coupled with Gilded Knight, has shown brilliant form in winning his recent races in excellent time. Unless he proves to be overmatched, he might give a good account of himself. He gets in todays race under the comparative feather of 112 pounds. The Greentree pair Hash and Third Degree, will be meeting stiff opposition but Hashs good second to Johnstown in the Withers forces consideration for him and Third Degree was able to annex third honors in the Shevlin. Others entered are John A. Manfusos Affair and Robert Harris Tiberius but these two appear to be overmatched. A fair card has been arranged to support the feature headed by the Powder House Handicap at the same distance as the head-liner. While the track may be off, there is a promise that overhead conditions will be ideal and a near record attendance is anticipated.
