Won driving; second and third the same. 1 NIGHT MIST, away slowly and far back for a half mile, improved her position fast with much re- 1 spon-e to light urging, got to the front in the last sixteenth, then tired, but managed to last. PAULSON, a strong factor from the start, was kept in hand for a half mile and held on well in the drive. PAY CHECK w:is in hand early, dropped back afer racing wide into the stretch, swerved to the inside while closing with determination and might have been best. WELL FLIGHT showed the most speed from the start, was under strong riding after reaching the last three sixteenths and gave way very slowly. OGEE lacked speed throughout. I POLLY FEU, away slowly and badly outrun for live-eighths, bettered her position rapidly thereafter, , was directed between horses while moving up until the final sixteenth, where she raced to the inside and, aided by good handling, got up in the last stride. MASKILLO, also slow to begin, started to move i up approaching the turn, continued well in the stretch, got to the front in the last fifty yards and barely I failed to last. SWIFTSPORT had speed from the start, was racing easily when he took command, came out I in the stretch and hung in the last eighth. SILVER BRAIL was under energetic riding from the start, | came aain to get to the front in the last eighth, but faltered in the late stages. CAPTAIN JINKS . raced well. MARS MAN gave way suddenly entering the stretch, but came again. HONEY ROLL was unable to keep up. BOSTON SOUND, fractious at the post, raced prominently from the start, hung on with determination in the drive, but was not good enough. FLY TIME raced wide after the first three eighths, did not rally to vigorous riding on the stretch turn, but closed resolutely when straight- ened in the stretch. RHETT took command at once, increased his margin on the stretch turn, but quit badly in the final three sixteenths. GLORIA G. was held safe. COL. JULIAN started poorly. CYNTHIA FAIR, away fast and having speed, followed the early pacemaker under steady restraint, came around BOB NIGHT when straightened in the stretch and drew out in the last sixteenth. TRYSAK raced wide throughout, was well up from the start, responded when called upon in the stretch, then neared the lead entering the last eighth and held on well, but the winners finish was too much for him. SPANISH BELLE, away slowly, bettered her position eradually, but did not menace the leaders. BUNNY RABBIT also kegaa slowly. BOB NIGHT tired badly after showing fair speed to the stretch. ISOLENE drew away gradually while making the pace easily for three-quarters, swerved sharply to the inside soon after reaching the stretch, where she increased her advantage under brisk pressure and tired in the final eighth, but withstood the bid of PRINCESS TORCH. PRINCESS TORCH, taken back repeatedly in the first half mile, moved up slowly on the stretch turn, came out in the final quarter and, closing well under strong riding, was wearing down the winner. WEGOWAY was badly outrun for three quarters, also came out in the stretch and finished well. INVINCIBLE saved much ground, dropped back rapidly on the turn and did not threaten thereafter. BARANCA, racing in good form and a factor from the start, wore down SKY CLOUD under good urging, drew out in the final eighth and withstood RUFFYS threat to win handily. The latter raced wide after the first quarter and, outrun for a half mile, closed ground fast after reaching the stretch to be going strongly at the end. SKY CLOUD made the pace under good rating and hung on fairly well under strong urging for an eighth after reaching the stretch, but gave way badly thereafter. I CHASE had no mishaps. FROZEN MASK raced prominently from the start and was in hand for a half mile, but gave way sharply when placed to mild pressure. FLUKE was through early. Overweight — Frozen Mask, 5 pounds. SAM ALEXANDER, much the best and taken back repeatedly the first seven-eighths, continued on the inside when moving up, quickly disposed of SUMMIT HILL and drew out fast in the last eighth. WHIPSTITCH, also reserved off the early pace but raced wide throughout, responded with good energy when called upon, but could not hold the winner, yet held on fairly well to the end. SUMMIT HILL took command easily, was briskly shaken up leaving the back stretch, was under constant pressure after a mile and tired after reaching the last three sixteenths. DORMIDO had no excuses. ORBEDLU, far back in the early stages and slow to respond to urging, came out in the stretch and, closing fast, might have Keen second in a few more strides.
