LANCASTER, Ohio, June 23.— With the 1 opening of racing at the beautiful half-mile Fair Grounds course here tomorrow, the ; fifth annual summer meeting of the Lancas-r_ | ter Racing Association will be inaugurated and all indications point to a successful nine days of thoroughbred sport. Following ; much rain of late, the skies cleared this afternoon and the weather outlook for to- morrow now appears most favorable. There are nearly 300 horses on the 1 grounds, a majority of which came here [ from North Randall Park, Cleveland, and Wheeling, W. Va. The stabling accommo- dation is now almost exhausted, but there 1 are still a few stalls available for the late ! | arrivals. j Twenty-seven jockeys were registered to-ie ; day with Thomas Moran, clerk of the scales, and many of them are well-known, experi-;1 enced performers. In addition there are ten j apprentice riders included in the list, several of which have already ridden with considerable success. Owen Pons, who will serve as presiding steward, came in today from North Randall Park. Starter Jack Yerian was an arrival from the same point. All of the other racing I officials were also on the grounds this morn-y ing making final preparations for the open-is ing of the meeting, of which Robert J. Dienst, of Columbus, Ohio, is the general manager. ; i | [ " " •
